Why The Transition?
Video games saved my life. It is as simple as that, and it sparked something new in me the day I picked up Majora’s Mask on the 3DS. The game walked me through grief and recovery, better than any therapist or doctor possibly could. For once in my life, I had felt seen. Through the Legend of Zelda franchise, I was inspired to receive a bachelor’s and associate’s in Game Design and Development, but my heart found a secret love for user experience and web development.
During my senior year of college, I pursued a User Experience certification run by employees of Google. I managed to complete my certification in less than 6 months, where I learned the importance of UX, and I found myself enjoying Product Design and User Research. However, I kept thinking to myself how I could take it one step further.

That question is what resulted in my return to school, working towards earning my degree in Web Development and Database Management. While attending SUNY Broome Community College, I have earned my certificate in Digital Media, learned the importance of SEO and accessibility, as well as creating websites and updated databases.
The unique path I chose to take has allowed me to be able to craft digital experiences that captivate and engage users in a way to ensure everyone can enjoy the magic of interactive worlds or have a positive experience navigating the applications I create.
